A milling tool with a quickly rotating spindle is used to mill out the desired contour on the workpiece. Horizontal machining centers differ from one another in their work axes. Three axes is usually the minimum configuration. 5 axis horizontal machining centers are the most frequently used machining centers.  The number of work axes can be expanded with a swinging device on the spindle or a turning device on the worktable. This is written directly into the machine or created on a computer and entered via an interface.
